Mission
Our events have kicked off countless of imitators but we’re still the first and the original! The LA Food Fest was born as the LA Street Food Fest in 2009 and kicked off with its first event downtown in February 2010, with a lofty goal to not only to fill a gap in the event scene by creating something that was the first of its kind, but to create community and a platform to support independent small businesses like ourselves, and more than 25,000 Angelenos joined us!
Promotional events often require vendors to donate their food and services, something we knew could be challenging, especially for new and less established vendors, and for that reason, we were the first event to make the decision to support our vendors by subsidizing the participation of nearly every vendor at our LA Food Fest events. We put our money where our mouth is – to the tune of more than $100,000.00 per event! This was a concept unheard of in the culinary event world that’s since encouraged many other events to follow our lead and do the same.
For us, every event is an opportunity to do a little good and to help make this amazing city we call home a little better for it. In 2016, we decided to make our event LA’s first zero food waste event and we’ve gotten closer to our goal every year. And last year (2018) we launched a summer Sunday Funday series from May–August in DTLA to give our attendees a free chance to check out some new talent at a themed, monthly, free event – and our loyal vendors an opportunity to sell their wares.
We hope you’ll get out your stretchy pants and join us discovering new talent and old faves for some fantastic food and a great time, knowing you’re also supporting our local community, restaurateurs, and LA’s economy!
